Well, there's the Hookman and Bloody Mary...What are some scary urban legends like the Hookman and Bloody Mary?
Okay, I'm feeling a little more serious now. I would suggest looking at "Aren't You Glad You Didn't Turn On the Lights?" and there's also one about a ghostly woman in white who patrols through school corridors. That's all I've got for now. What are some scary urban legends like the Hookman and Bloody Mary?
There are so many scary urban legends, it's hard to name just one, or even just a small few. They just all get jumbled up in my mind. But if I think about it for a bit...A little late, I know, but how about the ghostly hitch-hiker?
I also like the bloody hook story...
There's the black dog story, but I think we've had a discussion about that one before.
The Jersey devil and the chupacabra.
There are lots and lots of really well-known legends.
I don't know if I've ever heard of any of those except maybe the "Molly Dolly" story...maybe.There are so many scary urban legends, it's hard to name just one, or even just a small few. They just all get jumbled up in my mind. But if I think about it for a bit...
There's "The Body Under the Bed"; "The Clown Doll" or "Molly Dolly" (same basic story); "Tailypo", though it's more folklore than urban legend; "The Clown Statue"; "Humans Can Lick, Too"; and "The Killer in the Backseat". Oh my God, I just love these stories. Creeeeepy!

I have mentioned the "Molly Dolly" story to you once. It was a while ago. It's the story about the doll that counts on her fingers the death toll.I don't know if I've ever heard of any of those except maybe the "Molly Dolly" story...maybe.
I remember; I was able to find it.I have mentioned the "Molly Dolly" story to you once. It was a while ago. It's the story about the doll that counts on her fingers the death toll.

"The Body Under the Bed" is an urban legend about a couple who check into a hotel and discover a bad smell in the room. They complain, and the manager promises to have it cleaned, so the couple goes out, comes back a few hours later, and despite seeing that the room has been cleaned, still smell under all the cleaner that bad smell, so they complain again, the manager comes with a cleaning crew again and has it cleaned once more, but the smell is still there. So then the couple start searching for the source; the husband lifts up the mattress on the bed to find, to his horror, a dead body lying there. Dunh, dunh, dunh...I don't know if I've ever heard of any of those except maybe the "Molly Dolly" story...maybe.
And you find it rather disturbing, correct?I remember; I was able to find it.

"Tailypo", as I said, is more a folktale than anything else. A man discovers an unwanted creature in his house, so attempt sto shoot it, but only succeeds in shooting its tail off. He is a starving man, so he eats the tail for his dinner, and gives the remnants to his three dogs. Periodically throughout the night, a voice disturbs him, and each time he goes out to find the now tailles creature in his home despite the fact, that he covered up its means od entrance, and each time sends his dogs out after it, which come fewer and fewer until none of them come back. Finally, the creature gains entrance once more and as the creature's voice comes closer and closer to his bed, continually saying, "Tailypo, tailypo, who's got my tailypo?" the man becomes increasingly frightened. Eventually the creature is on his bed as it tells the man, that it knows he has its tailypo, who shouts to it that no he doesn't. The tailypo, though, is of course the creature's tail who is determined to get it back...
"The Clown Statue" is about a babysitter who, looking after two children, goes into the TV room to watch television where she sees a clown statue she didn't notice before. Upon calling the parents to ask about it, she told to grab the kids, and get out of the house...
"Humans Can Lick, Too" is about a girl who has a dog which sleeps beside her bed, and when she puts her hand over the side of her bed, he licks it to comfort her. Basically, if you're a big dog lover, don't read this one.
"The Killer in the Backseat" is about a woman who is driving along highway when suddenly a driver behind her begins flashing his brights, and continually comes up quite close behind her, but never makes the move to pass. Depending on the version, she either stops to confront the driver, or continues on until she's home where she calls the police. Either way, she discovers there's a man in her back seat who intended to kill her...

Yes. It was awful. I already hate dolls thanks to the Poltergeist; that definitely didn't help...And you find it rather disturbing, correct?

It didn't help?! Huh.Yes. It was awful. I already hate dolls thanks to the Poltergeist; that definitely didn't help...
So you know, the climax is pretty creepy. Thanks, Myrddin. Always a wealth of urban myth knowledge. I've heard of "The Killer in the Backseat" and "Humans Can Lick, Too". I heard both of those actually when I was in, maybe, fifth grade or so. I agree the latter is not for dog lovers. I've also heard "The Body Under the Bed". "The Clown Statue" sounds interesting. I'll have to look it up so I can see the full story.
