Marie calloway's first book, "what purpose did i serve in your life?"

This controversial story is causing a pretty big stir. She's been praised by some for writing this book and threatened by others! People aren't as innocent as they once were. Kids are having sex at a much earlier age. There's a lot of experimentation with sex going on and porn is readily available online.

What do you guys think about her story. Is this something she should have kept to herself? Something she should be ashamed to write about? Or do you think it's something that people can learn from?

I think that shame, in some respects, is a sin. And certainly when it has to do with yourself, because you should never be ashamed of who you are. You are who you are, and if there are people who can't respect you for who you are, well then, that's their problem. And I think for Marie Calloway to write her story takes guts, and that's a good thing. If only there were more people like her. Some people feel the need to write about themselves because it makes them feel good to get it out. When it comes right down to it, you have to do what you have to do. I think maybe that's what Calloway did.

I can't believe that anyone would think it's okay to threaten her because, what, they're so insecure about themselves and hate to believe such things? Here's my response to that: "Get over yourself! If you don't like it, don't pick it up." That goes for anything. And seriously, how dare anyone criticize complete others, especially those who they DON'T EVEN KNOW!

By the way, I like Tao Lin's sentiment about non-fiction.
