    African mythology

Oooo, that's a great link, Rhonda - thank you! I am new to mythology so whenever I think of it I always think of Roman and Greek. I realize that's a very narrow minded newb approach though and I am really enjoying researching all the different cultures and stories.

    Person in the backseat

I agree that this is a likely scenario. The only thing I'm not sure about is the car driving behind flashing its lights. The rest of it I totally believe though.

    African mythology

I came across this website this morning: http://www.pantheon.org/areas/mythology/africa/african/articles.html Of course it stands to reason that Africa would have mythological figures as well...I just never really thought about it. There are links down the side of the page that describe each...

    Powwow

I went to a few as a kid with my dad. He is a huge Native American history buff and he still goes whenever they have one in his area. Boudica - Try looking online for tribes in your area. They might have a website that will have an events calendar.

    God of rock and cock

Hey, there! I'm an amateur myself, but I've been having fun here - lots of pretty knowledgeable people. I hope you find the information you're looking for :)

    Will christianity become myth?

That's a good point about the stories in the Bible. I guess I do the same thing. I believe the stuff that is feasible in today's world, but when it comes to Noah and his Ark and people living to be 600 years old I kind of disregard it and look for the lesson. I never thought of myself as someone...

    2012

I kind of classify stuff like this in the same category as all the hype about the millennium. I just can't make myself crazy about it. I'll watch some TV shows about it and read an article or two, but I'm not going to stock up on water and canned food or anything like that. Not that that would...

Where do you stand when it comes to religion?

I am Roman Catholic and I would never leave that church, but I also respect other religions. It's not my place to tell someone what they should or shouldn't believe. The only people that really stretch my tolerance to the limit are atheists. I won't argue with them (I've tried in the past and...

    Ghosts in graveyards

I had a bizarre experience in a small graveyard in New Jersey. I was with my dad and we parked the car and got out to check out the graveyard. There were only about 20 headstones and they all dated back to the mid 1800s. Then we were walking down the road a bit and out of nowhere came this group...

    Deing in dreams

I have never died in a dream. I always wake up right before the moment of death. I agree with Dianna though - I could see where that could cause a heart attack for some people. I wonder where this myth came from. It's not like if it actually happened the victim would be around to tell us, lol.

    Will christianity become myth?

I am a Christian so I'm not trying to say I don't believe or anything like that, but do you think it's possible that hundreds, or thousands, of years from now Christianity will fall into the myth category and be replaced by something else?

    Buried alive

Ohhh, just the thought of being buried alive is SO creepy! What an awful way to go. It gives me the heebie jeebies just to think about it.

    Roman mythology and astrology

Very interesting article - thanks for sharing :) I guess I never gave the whole masculine/feminine thing much thought before. Have any other experts adopted this philosophy?

    Fact or fiction?

Old World - Maybe I just have a twisted sense of humor, but that suicide story is hilarious. And you're too right - people are stupid, so you just never know, lol. I have heard about the curse of Macbeth before. Dead is dead. Why not just keep on going with the play? Heehee.

Which greek god do you resemble?

I found this quiz this morning and it tells you who you are most like. http://hunch.com/greek-gods/?gclid=COmX4v3AoKUCFchA2godNj-gHg&SEMref=google&kw=greek+gods+olympians I got Demeter. I'm not all that familiar with her, so now I have some research to do.

Bad habits that are difficult to break

Smoking is my worst habit. That's a really interesting idea, Talaria. How long did you have to let that pack sit around before they went stale enough to be a turn off?

Pyramids - not just for egypt anymore...

Like Chintai, I am a believer of conspiracy theories. When it comes down to it, what do we really know other than what we are being told? That kind of makes me feel like a sheep following along with the flock. Thanks for the links - I'll definitely be checking them out :)

    Fact or fiction?

Have you come across any urban legends that you thought might be true? Every now and then I hear one that I think might have a factual basis. Really, some strange things to do happen from time to time.

    Roman Myths suitable forkids

I think the potential for misunderstanding is a danger from an educational perspective. It's probably better to wait until you feel she can handle and grasp the whole story in its proper form.

    Do you follow superstitions?

I guess I can say I do. My favorite one is never put shoes on a table. I got that from my dad when I was little and to this day I won't do it. I've never heard the one about doing laundry on New Year's Day. That's good to know :) Who wants to wash clothes on New Year's anyway? Lol.
