"gods behaving badly"

Has anyone read Marie Phillips's book "Gods Behaving Badly"? It's an interesting novel putting a twist on Greek mythology. It places twelve gods of Mount Olympus in today's society. As the Greek gods live in the postmodern England, together in an apartment, they start to battle and two perplexed humans, Alice and Neil are caught in the crossfire.

I just came across an article saying that they're turning this novel into a movie.

Christopher Walken will be playing Zeus, Oliver Platt - Apollo, John Turturro - Hades and Rosie Perez - Persephone.

Interesting. I'm curious to see how it's going to turn out...

It sounds like an interesting book as I like these types. I wondering now though if I should read it since you mentioned they are gong to be making a movie from it. Most of the time when I see a movie after reading the book I am disappointed.

I'll definitely get that book to read first. I'm with you Mystic, most movies are a poor interpretation of the book or else go so closely it's a waste of money if you've just read it. But I'm the opposite--I'd rather read the book-especially if it's good enough to be made into a movie.

I always like to read the book first before going to see a movie. I figure, if I don't like the book, then likely I won't like the movie either. And if I do like the book, then there's a good chance that I will like the movie. Though I will admit that sometimes I am lazy, and just go to see the movie without even glancing at the book. Like The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. It looks too long.

Aw man, give the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo books a chance. I read all three, and they were incredible. The movies held up well compared to the books.

It's not that I'm not interested, just that they're so long seeming. Maybe at some point I'll find the time to give them a look.
